Founder of The Art of Living Foundation Sri Sri Ravi Shankar waves to his followers during the inauguration of a massive cultural festival on the banks of the river Yamuna, in New Delhi. A cultural festival has opened on the banks of river Yamuna despite concerns the sprawling construction of roads, ramps and pontoon bridges will irreparably damage the floodplains. The environmental watchdog NGT has fined the organizers Rs 5 crore for building on the riverbanks but wouldn't cancel the event.

Monday June 30, 2008

The BJP of course seems to think that with the price rise and the Left/Congress face-off, not only are the next elections round the corner but they seem convinced that this is the man who would be prime minister. With their usual bravado and posturing, the party also went on to announce their first list -- all of six people -- for the next Lok Sabha elections. The PM-wannabe himself is getting all emotional in his old age and burst into tears at the launch of the Hindi edition of his book at Bhopal -- the photo shows him flanked by spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravishankar (R) and Yoga guru Baba Ramdev (L)
