Hetul Shah

It's been reported widely but let's place it here as well. For the record -- since this one is for the records.  

At the Parsvnath Open in New Delhi, nine-year old Hetul Shah defeated an experienced grandmaster, with the black pieces, in a regular tournament game with FIDE time controls.  

The World Chess Federation (FIDE) has confirmed that Hetul is indeed the youngest Indian ever to beat a GM.   His opponent was 31-year-old Kasakh GM Nurlan Ibrayev, rated almost 600 points higher than him -- and now probably the world's most embarrassed GM.
