Mumbai, July 15 (IANS) Actor Aashim Gulati, who is appearing in the new web series "The Holiday", says he has realised that having a steady fan following on social media helps actors and filmmakers market talent easily.
Talking about the importance of social media, Aashim told IANS here: "Social media is a great tool for marketing. Any show or film that we are part of, having a steady following on a social media platform is always good for it. Having said that, people who are following us on social media are very openly critical about our work as well because they are fans. If our work is worth admiring, they will love it. If not, they will openly criticize it."
"So, I think for marketing purpose, social media plays a great role. It gives us good visibility. On social media platforms, if the content is not engaging, however, it will never work," he added.
The actor believes not overexposing oneself on social media is also important.
"We always want to put out content on social media to stay connected with our fans and then we also do not want to overdo it. In our initial days when we are starting off, we tend to be selective on how we build our image on social media."
"Once we have a body of work, however, it is only natural to have the exposure because of the media, which will talk about us," added the actor, who appeared in the film "Tum Bin 2" with Neha Sharma.
Aashim started his career with the show "Gulmohar Grand". He also appeared in TV shows such as "Dil Sambhal Jaa Zara", "Karn Sangini" and the web series "Hostages".
In the new web series, "The Holiday", features alongside Adah Sharma and Priyank Sharma.
Talking about his character in the series, he said: "I play a pilot in the show, who is not only flying planes but also flying away from some people of his life. He does not want to face some people and certain situation."
"On the show, he is reuniting with his childhood friends and all of them decided to take Mahek, their childhood female friend, on a bachelors'' trip. Three boys taking a girl on such a trip is a lot of fun!" he added.
The show is streaming on the OTT platform Zoom Studios.
