OLT: Which is your favourite hotel in the world and why?

Gal Gadot: I was going to be partial and say that it was my husband’s hotel— Varsano. But since he has sold it off, I will choose two hotels from my hometown that I really feel people must know more about. So my favourite hotels are The Norman Tel Aviv (from $515; thenorman.com) and Hotel Montefiore (from ILS 1,420; hotelmontefiore.co.il). I love them because they have amazing restaurants, well-designed and well-laid out rooms, and the best bit is that both are located in really pretty parts of Tel Aviv.

OLT: What would you like travellers to know about these hotels?

Gal Gadot: I like both these places because they are small, boutique hotels—and there isn’t any furore when you stay here. The Norman Tel Aviv and the Hotel Montefiore are actually restored heritage buildings that date back to the 1920s. The vibe is very vintage and old-world but the amenities are very modern.

OLT: What about the cuisine?

Gal Gadot:  Oh you have to have the hummus at Norman! Most of the cuisine here is an amalgamation of French and Mediterranean; a Niçoise influence is predominant in the food here. At the Montefiore, they have a great collection of artisanal wines and the most interesting thing is how they present French cuisine under a Vietnamese spell based on seasonal and local ingredients. I am smitten by their roasted tomato and poached eggs. The eggplant kroket is also a must-try.

OLT: You shuttle between Israel and the US, so how often do you get to stay here?

Gal Gadot:   I have stayed at both these places several times and if I am in Tel Aviv for long stretches, we go there as a family very often—sometimes just to have pancakes with maple syrup and seasonal fruits for breakfast!
