Motihari (Bihar), June 4 (PTI) A suspected smuggler from Nepal, carrying a Rs 50,000 award on his head offered by the NIA, was today arrested from a village in Bihar's East Champaran district, the police said.

Acting on a tip-off, the police raided Islampur village and arrested Farmanullah Ansari, an active member of a gang involved in the smuggling of counterfeit currency notes and contraband across the porous Indo-Nepal border, SP Jitendra Rana told reporters.

Ansari was a native of Hariharpur village in Nepal's Bara district, he said.

Rana said that the police and security agencies were interrogating the arresed. The NIA has been informed about Ansari's arrest.
