Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill were handed a shock loss by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 64th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. (Match Blog)
Riding on Mitchell Marsh's maiden IPL century, LSG beat table-toppers GT by 33 runs. Marsh's ton and Nicholas Pooran's half-century had taken LSG to 235/2. William O'Rourke then picked up three wickets as LSG stopped GT at 202/9 despite Shahrukh Khan's fifty.
GT had won the toss and opted to field first but the decision did not bring any good result.

Marsh stitched a 91-run opening parntership with Aiden Markram to lay the platform for a big score. Once Pooran joined Marsh, the duo went berserk. The duo added 121 runs in 51 balls to take LSG to a big score. In the end, the out-of-form Rishabh Pant too hit a couple of sixes to propel LSG's total to 235.
GT's famed top three of Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler all got starts but could not play a big innings. Shahrukh Khan and Sherfane Rutherford made the game close before some quality death bowling from LSG bowlers led by O'Rourke sealed the game in Lucknow's favour.
The loss is a big dent in LSG's top two hopes. If PBKS and RCB win their remaining two games, GT would not be able to finish inside top two. However, if one of them loses even one and GT win their only remaining game, they will still be able to make it to the top two.
