Indian Premier League 2026

Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru are aiming to follow up their first-ever title with another triumph in the 19th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The IPL 2026 season, starting on March 28, has 10 teams fighting for the top prize in the world's most cash-rich league. Five-time winners Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians will both try to earn a record sixth trophy, while teams like Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings seek their maiden victories.

The 44-year-old MS Dhoni remains in the spotlight as the former India captain undertakes another IPL campaign with CSK, in all likelihood his last season. Meanwhile, SunRisers Hyderabad have named Ishan Kishan as their stand-in skipper for the first few matches, with injured Pat Cummins still recovering. Kolkata Knight Riders have elevated Rinku Singh to the position of Ajinkya Rahane's deputy, while Riyan Parag is the new captain of the Rajasthan Royals

India's Test and One-Day International captain Shubman Gill is at the helm for the Gujarat Titans. Also interesting to see will be the fight for the Orange Cap and Purple Cap among batters and bowlers. The IPL 2026 league stage will comprise 70 matches and continue till May 24. The final will be held on May 31.
