A strained left calf will prevent Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo from playing in next Sunday's All-Star Game, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.
Antetokounmpo has missed the Bucks' last two games because of the calf injury, and will sit out their next three contests leading into the All-Star break.
The hope is he'll be able to join Milwaukee shortly after the week off. The Bucks' first game after the break is against the Los Angeles Clippers on February 20.
Antetokounmpo led all players in fan votes for the All-Star Game with 3,489,956. This is the ninth time he's been selected to the All-Star Game in his 12-year career.
The two-time league MVP ranks second in the NBA in scoring at 31.8 points per game and fifth in rebounding at 12.2 per contest. His 37 double-doubles rank fourth.
It has not yet been announced who will replace Antetokounmpo, 30, in the All-Star Game in San Francisco.
The Greek forward was selected to Team Chuck for the All-Star Game, which will feature a new look this year with a mini-tournament format.
