In a heartfelt revelation, celebrity couple Kim Jae-woo and Jo Yu-ri have openly discussed the emotionally challenging journey after they lost their new-born child, in an episode of Channel A's ‘Dr. Oh's Golden Clinic’. The couple, who got married in 2013, gave birth to a boy in 2018. However, the child passed away in less than 15 days of birth.
Kim Jae-woo, the comedian-actor, talked about the challenging period. "Things were so bad that we couldn’t tell anybody. At the time, my wife couldn’t fully recuperate from giving birth, and her health worsened. I feel that it was my fault," he said.
Jo Yu-ri went on to disclose that her health deteriorated significantly, which prompted her to prepare her husband for a world without her. "My husband is really bad with his finances. I was scared that he wouldn’t be able to do anything without me. During the time I was sick, I wrote in a letter the passwords to his credit cards and how to use an OTP. I wanted him to learn how to live alone."
When questioned about how they coped with their loss, Jae-woo admitted to still struggling, while Yu-ri shed light on some of the challenges they faced as a couple. She stated with tears in her eyes, "At the time, we became more irritable. One day, I got into a huge fight with Kim Jae-woo, and I left the house. I then went to a place where I had been with the baby, and Kim Jae-woo was there. There, we sobbed in each other’s arms."
Reacting to this incident, Jae-woo felt that their "son must have brought us here to stop fighting. My wife had neglected her health until the doctor stated that her body had become similar to an 80-year-old’s.”
The couple's candid, heartfelt discussions offer insight into the profound emotional journey they have undergone, showcasing the strength they have found in each other and becoming a support system for one another to get through.
