Mercurial pacer Mohammed Shami turned up for his first VHT match of the season on Friday and played his part (1/28 in 8 overs) in Bengal's six-wicket win over Bihar. The former champions thus assured themselves of a second-place finish in the group.
But the fight is for a direct quarter-final spot, and Bengal (18 points) need to beat already-eliminated Madhya Pradesh to achieve that goal. The crunch match, however, is between Baroda and Delhi.
Krunal Pandya's Baroda, having already pocketed 16 points, are in a slightly better position. They, in fact, will win the group if Bengal lose to Madhya Pradesh. For Delhi, a big win is a must to finish second in the seven-team group.
Five group winners automatically make the quarter-finals. They will be joined by the best of the second-ranked teams in the last eight. The other four second-ranked teams will play in the pre-quarterfinals with the winners completing the quarter-final line-up.

Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 Live Streaming And Telecast Details
The Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 group stage matches will not be telecast on TV or streamed online. The knockout matches will be streamed live and telecast on JioCinema and Sports18 channels.
The knockouts will begin on January 9, 2025, with preliminary quarter-finals. The final is scheduled for January 19. All knockout matches will be played in Vadodara.
