In a high-stakes IPL 2025 Qualifier 1 at the Mullanpur Stadium on Thursday Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s bowlers dominated early proceedings against Punjab Kings.
After winning the toss, RCB skipper Rajat Patidar opted to bowl first — a decision that immediately paid dividends. Punjab’s top order crumbled under pressure, and by the end of 5.1 overs, they were tottering at 38/4.
Despite the early collapse, one name still managed to shine briefly: Prabhsimran Singh. The aggressive opener played a short yet impactful cameo of 18 runs off just 10 deliveries, laced with two boundaries and a six. But beyond the numbers in this particular game, Singh reached a landmark that etched his name into IPL history.
With this knock, Prabhsimran Singh breached the 500-run mark for the 2025 season, becoming only the third Punjab Kings batter ever to do so in a single edition of the IPL. More significantly, he joined an elite list of uncapped Indian players who have scored 500 or more runs in one season — a club that includes names like Shaun Marsh, Suryakumar Yadav (pre-India cap), Ishan Kishan, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Riyan Parag.
Here’s the full list of uncapped players with 500+ runs in an IPL season:
2008 – Shaun Marsh
2018 – Suryakumar Yadav
2020 – Ishan Kishan
2023 – Yashasvi Jaiswal
2024 – Riyan Parag
2025 – Prabhsimran Singh*
Singh, who had a modest IPL 2024 with 334 runs, has elevated his game in 2025 — amassing 517 runs at an average of 34.47.
However, even as he notched up a personal milestone, PBKS found themselves in disarray, with RCB bowlers — led by Josh Hazlewood and Yash Dayal, Suyash Sharma — ripping through the lineup to dismantle PBKS on 101-the lowest defendhing total in IPL Playoffs history.
