The Indian Premier League 2025 playoffs kick off on Thursday, May 29, with two title-hungry teams--Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru--clashing in Qualifier 1 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh.

Now, before the IPL 2025 playoffs begin, here’s your May 29 dispatch:

Iyer Vs Patidar:

Qualifier 1 of IPL 2025 will witness the captaincy clash between Punjab Kings' Shreyas Iyer and Royal Challengers Bengaluru's Rajat Patidar.

Iyer, who led KKR to the title last season, now eyes glory with PBKS after guiding them to the playoffs ending the drought of 11 years. Meanwhile, Patidar--an unlikely leader--has sparked a turnaround at RCB, steering them into the top two. Both the teams chase their first-ever IPL title.

IPL 2025 League Stage Finish:

The league stage of IPL 2025 is officially over after 70 action-packed games. The four teams advancing to the playoffs are Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gujarat Titans, and Mumbai Indians.

Delhi Capitals fought hard but fell short after a crushing 59-run loss to MI in their final league match. They finish fifth with 15 points, narrowly missing out on qualification.

Orange Cap:

Gujarat Titans dominate the top of the Orange Cap charts after the IPL 2025 league stage. Sai Sudharsan leads with 679 runs in 14 innings, including a season-high 78 fours. Captain Shubman Gill follows closely with 649 runs. However, Mumbai Indians' Suryakumar Yadav (640) and Mitch Marsh of Delhi Capitals (627) are next. RCB's star Virat Kohli, with 602 runs stands fifth in the ist of most runs this season and records his fifth and third consecutive 600+ season in the IPL.

Purple Cap:

At the end of league stage, the most wickets this season have been taken by Chennai Super Kings’ Noor Ahmad, with 24 scalps. Gujarat Titans’ Prasidh Krishna follows closely with 23 and could overtake him in Qualifier 1. Trent Boult is third with 19 wickets, while Arshdeep Singh and Josh Hazlewood share fourth place with 18 each.
