During India's ICC Champions Trophy 2025 semi-final against Australia, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma nearly took out the match umpire with a blistering shot. (Match Highlights | Full Coverage)

The incident, that left on-field umpire Chris Gaffaney ducking for safety, portrayed Rohit's true power of his stroke play. The moment came in the sixth over of India's run-chase, with Nathan Ellis bowling a length ball to the Indian skipper.

The Mumbai-born opener came down the ground to play ferocious straight drive. The ball went past the bowler and headed directly towards Gaffaney, who at the last moment ducked for safety to avoid getting hit. As the ball reached the boundary, Sharma's shot left the commentators in awe.

However, the captain could not drive India ahead with the momentum as he was dismissed on 28 runs by debutant Cooper Connolly.

However, that did not affect India's momentum one bit as the Men In Blue went on to win the first semi-final by four wickets and book their spot in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
