The first session on Day 4 of the 3rd Test continued in sensational fashion, as hits were exchanged by both teams with the result still hanging in the balance.

Starting the day at the overnight score of 27-0, Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett could add only 12 runs before Mitchell Starc removed the latter for 23 runs, trapping him in front of the wicket.

With Crawley scoring run at the other end, Moeen Ali departed after scoring just five runs, as Starc struck for the second time in the day.

Crawley and Joe Root looked steady together, stitching a 33-run partnership, before Australia's first innings centurion Mitchell Marsh removed Crawley for a well-made 55-ball 44.

Harry Brook, as he has played throughout the series so far, continued with his aggressive approach, taking on opposition bowlers, dispatching them for six boundaries in his unbeaten 40 off 54 deliveries.

Root fell to an unfortunate dismissal trying to hit a ball aimed at his ribs, only for the ball to graze his glove, with Alex Carey completing the catch down the leg-side off Pat Cummins. Cummins has now dismissed Root for the eleventh time.

Brook is accompanied by captain Ben Stokes at 7*, as England look to finish the game in the next session.
