United Arab Emirates (UAE) take on Bangladesh in the second T20I of the two-match series between the two teams on Monday, 19 May, at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
The visitors currently lead the series, winning the first game by 27 runs on Sunday. Bangladesh’s commanding lead was mainly due to a terrific century by Parvez Hossain Emon, who smashed 100 off 54 balls, including nine sixes and five fours.
Emon’s century, which was only the second T20I hundred by any Bangladesh player after Tamim Iqbal, was also a new national record for the most sixes in a T20I innings by a Bangladeshi player.
Despite Emon’s heroics helping the Bengal Tigers set a target of 191, which the UAE failed to reach, left-arm spinner Muhammad Jawadullah stood out by claiming four wickets and will be key in the second T20I match.
The UAE’s chase was led by captain Muhammad Waseem, who scored 54 off 39 balls, and Asif Khan added another 42 runs. If the middle order improves their standings, then the Emirati side have a chance of tying the series up in front of the home crowd.
Both teams will need to focus on their batting performance from Monday’s match, with the Sharjah stadium giving a boost to those batting first, with the chasing team winning only 42% of the time.
