JSW Group's Chairman and Managing Director, Sajjan Jindal, is facing serious allegations as a case of alleged rape and criminal intimidation has been registered against him. The complaint was filed by a 30-year-old woman at the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) police station in Mumbai.

In response to the accusations, Jindal stated on Sunday, vehemently denying the charges, categorizing them as "false and baseless."

Details of the case

According to the complainant, the alleged sexual assault occurred on January 24, 2022, and she approached the police on February 16.

According to The Indian Express report, in her statement, she mentioned a couple of incidents before the specified date when she claimed Jindal forcefully kissed her. On December 5, she filed a petition in the Bombay High Court, accusing the police of inaction on her complaint.

Subsequently, on December 12, the BKC police informed the High Court that the woman's statement would be recorded, and the necessary action would be taken. An FIR was filed on December 13, a day after, citing charges under IPC Sections 376 (rape), 354 (assault or criminal force to a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty), and 506 (criminal intimidation).

A Bench of Justices Prakash D Naik and Nitin R Borkar directed an "expeditious" investigation after taking note of the police's submission. The Bench stated, "In these circumstances, we dispose of this petition. The investigation (is) to be completed expeditiously within statutory limits."

The complainant further alleged that Jindal's team members approached her and instructed her to withdraw her complaint.
