Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid tribute to former Bihar chief minister Karpoori Thakur on his birth anniversary, remembering him as a leader committed to social justice and public service.

In a post on X, PM Modi said, “the upliftment of the exploited, deprived and weaker sections of society lay at the core of Thakur’s politics.” Calling him Jananayak, the prime minister said Thakur would always be remembered for his simplicity, integrity and lifelong dedication to the people.

Karpoori Thakur, a towering socialist leader from Bihar, was conferred the Bharat Ratna posthumously in 2024.

Various community programs have been organised in Bihar as a tribute to the Jannayaka Karpoori Thakur, among them are medical camps, cultural activities. State BJP leaders, JDU and RJD leaders paid tribute to Thakur.
