South Africa will renew their rivalry against New Zealand in the second match of the Zimbabwe T20I Tri-Series 2025 at Harare Sports Club on Wednesday, 16 July 2025. The Proteas are on a roll after an opening-day win against hosts Zimbabwe, but will face a tougher test against an in-form New Zealand side.
In the first match of the tri-series, South Africa secured a solid five-wicket win against Zimbabwe. Disciplined bowling from the Proteas, including a three-wicket spell from George Linde, reduced Zimbabwe to just 141/6.
In response, South Africa’s Rubin Hermann (45 off 37) and Dewald Brevis (41 off 17) ensured that the visitors got over the line, with 25 balls to spare.
Meanwhile, New Zealand will enter the tournament off the back of a clean sweep against Pakistan in an ODI series, winning 3-0. In T20Is, they had a 4-1 record against Pakistan earlier in the year.
The Kiwis have named a full-strength squad for the tri-series, with players including the returning all‑rounders Devon Conway and Jimmy Neesham. It will also be a homecoming for NZ’s coach Rob Walter, facing his former Proteas side.
