A special session of the parliament will be held from September 18 to 22, with five sittings, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi announced.

"A special Session of Parliament (13th Session of 17th Lok Sabha and 261st Session of Rajya Sabha) is being called from 18th to 22nd September having 5 sittings," tweets Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi.

There is conjecture that the special session is being convened to initiate the transition from the former to the fresh Parliament building. Consequently, this session might commence within the old building and conclude within the new one. The decision to hold a special parliament session has garnered criticism from various opposition leaders, particularly those from Maharashtra, who have highlighted that the chosen dates clash with "Ganesh Chaturthi," India's most significant festival.

Supriya Sule tweeted that she has come across information regarding the upcoming Special Parliament Session, known as the 13th Session of the 17th Lok Sabha and the 261st Session of the Rajya Sabha. This session is scheduled to take place from September 18th to September 22nd.

"Just read about the upcoming Special Parliament Session (13th Session of 17th Lok Sabha & 261st Session of Rajya Sabha) happening from Sep 18-22. Whilst we all look forward towards meaningful discussions and dialogue, the dates coincide with the Ganpati Festival, a major festival in Maharashtra. Urging the Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister to take the above into consideration."

The timing of this special session coincides with the third assembly of the opposition coalition I.N.D.I.A. Additionally, the special session will occur amidst several significant developments, notably India's recent hosting of the G20 Summit in Delhi, which took place in the national capital from September 8 to 10.
