Premier League champions Manchester City won 2-1 over Fulham to go on top of the Premier League table, at least momentarily. Julian Alvarez opened the scoring for Manchester City in the 16th minute as Illkay Gundogan played a silky through ball for the Argentine who buried it with force past Bernd Leno. In the 26th minute, Joao Cancelo fouled Harry Wilson in the penalty area and was shown a red card. Former Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira scored from the 12 yard spot to equalize. Erling Haaland came on as a substitute in the 64th minute and did score a towering header from Kevin De Bruyne’s cross but the goal was ruled out because of offside. The game was heading for a draw until the 95th minute, when De Bruyne was fouled in the box and Manchester City were awarded a penalty. Haaland did not miss from the penalty spot, scoring the winner and getting his 18th league goal of the campaign. With the win, Manchester City jump to the top spot of the table, 1 point ahead of Arsenal who have one game in hand.
