FIFA World Cup 2022: Japan Send Shockwaves Across The Globe With 2-1 Win Over Germany

After the shock win of Saudi Arabia against Argentina, the FIFA World Cup 2022 sprung up another surprise as Japan won 2-1 against Germany. Germany had a horrific campaign last time where they finished fourth in the group stage and were hoping to have a fresh start at the FIFA World Cup but Hajime Moriyasu’s men had other plans. The Germans took the lead via Ilkay Gundogan who calmly dispatched a penalty as the spot kick was awarded in the 31st minute for a foul on David Raum. The four time world champions scored in the stoppage time of first half but the goal was ruled out after VAR review. In the second half, substitute Ritsu Doan find a deserved equalizer as Japan were looking the better side. In the 83rd minute, Takuma Asano fired the ball past Manuel Neuer from the tightest of angles to give Japan a shock lead in the game. The match ended as 2-1 in favour of Japan as a major upset was caused, leaving Germany lot of work to do in the next two group games.
