All In The Family

The grandchildren are demanding their rightful share of their late father Jagat Singh's assets worth hundreds of crores, which include the Jai Mahal Palace, on 18 acres of prime land in the heart of Jaipur. A recently discovered will, said to be made by Jagat, disinherits his children. The children claim the will is forged, and that their grandmother is being manipulated by their step-uncles.

Cast of Characters

Gayatri Devi, 87, legendary beauty, third and favourite wife of Sawai Man Singh II, last ruler of the former princely state of Jaipur.

Jagat Singh, youngest of Man Singh's four sons and his only child from Gayatri Devi. Died in London in 1997, aged 48.

Priyanandana Rangsit, 54, Thai aristocrat, ex-wife of Jagat Singh. Married Jagat in 1978, left him seven years later after rows over his drunken bouts and affairs. Remarried a decade ago to a fellow Thai.

Lalitya Kumari, 27, and Devraj Singh, 25, Jagat and Priyanandana's children. Lalitya has a masters in archaeology from Cambridge University, works in heritage conservation. Devraj has a UK management degree, is into rural development.

Prithvi Singh, 71, the younger of Man Singh's two sons from his second wife, Kishore Kanwar. Ex-husband of Devika Devi, Gayatri Devi's sister's daughter. A reclusive and controversial figure, he manages Gayatri Devi's business affairs and several family companies. Prithvi is said to have become increasingly close to her in recent years.

Bhawani Singh, 75, Man Singh's eldest son from his first wife, Marudhar Kanwar. A polo-playing retired brigadier, he had served as Indian High Commissioner to Brunei. Currently in poor health. In a court battle for the last two decades with his half-brothers who are seeking partition of HUF (Hindu undivided family) assets of the family. Bhawani Singh and his wife, Padmini Devi, are backing Lalitya and Devraj.
