The Bengal Special Task Force (STF) arrested a suspected member of a Bangladesh-based terror group from Howrah station on Saturday.

The Saturday's arrest comes within a week after they took into custody an alleged Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) member, according to the reports.

The terror suspect is a 40-year-old resident of Dinhata in Coochbehar. According to the reports, the suspect was apprehended at the busy railway station after a complaint was lodged at Sashan Police Station in North 24 Parganas in August last year.

He was booked under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), said an official.

"He has been involved with various militant organisations including the Al Qaeda. This man has been in-charge of expanding the tentacles of the terror outfit in the bordering areas of Bengal," said the official.

The reports also mentioned that the STF is interrogating him to find out who else is involved in the terror activities. The STF arrested a suspected member of the terror outfit Al Qaeda in the Indian subcontinent (AQIS) from Dadpur in the Hooghly district of West Bengal last week.
