Sri Lanka faced Bangladesh in their first warm-up match in Guwahati on September 29 and they ended up losing by seven wickets. Batting first, the Lions managed 263 in 49.1 overs, thanks largely to half-centuries from Pathum Nissanka (68) and Dhananjaya de Silva (55). But the total proved not enough as Bangladesh chased it down in 42 overs. On the same day, Afghanistan were scheduled to take on South Africa, but Thiruvananthapuram rain forced the match to be abandoned.
