The Red Miners are coming off a solid 1-0 win against Mohammedan SC. Madih Talal, the hero of the first match, will start against his former club. No reported injuries and the full squad is available. Meanwhile, this is the season opener for Punjab FC. All eyes will be on new goalkeeper Arshdeep Singh, who joined from FC Goa.

The match is underway and it is Punjab FC who show the intent in the early minutes of the game. Muhammad Suhail's right footed shot from the left side of the box is blocked. They have looked more eager to get a goal quickly.

Not the best start to the game. Both teams have scuffled possessions and not been able to retain it for a long time. Hopeful long balls from both sides and the second ball has not fallen to anyone consistently. Both teams will have to settle themselves and build organised attacks.

Jamshedpur FC have looked the better side of the two so far although none of them have created a clearcut chance. Sanan opened up the left-hand side looking for a cross, but was blocked and the Nikola Stojanovic tried to get through but the Punjab FC defenders negotiated with a corner. Not much happening in the game. It remains a cagey, chaotic game with both teams getting one or two half chances from time to time. Pratik Chaudhari's header from the left side of the six yard box misses to the right. Assisted by Madih Talal with a cross following a corner. Immediately after, Khaiminthang Lhungdim's right-footed shot got saved. Nothing materialises yet.

Not many events in the first half. Jamshedpur were the better side between the two. They created half-chances but didn't convert any of them. Just towards the end of the first half, Raphael Messi Boully got the opportunity to drive at the opposition goal, but his lack of pace made him go wide towards Mark Zothanpuia. His cross was blocked. It was the last big chance, before the first half came to an end.

The second half gets underway and Punjab FC are the first one to threaten the opposition goal. Ramirez takes on two defenders on the right side and gets in, but gets fouled just outside the penalty box. He floats in the free kick on the second post but there was no one to tap it in.

It is a short spell where Punjab FC have stitched a few passes and found the positions from where they can put in a cross. Both Ricky Shabong and Muhammad Suhail got chances to put in balls but they were either blocked or deemed offside. No signs of opening on either end.

Nothing significant in the game and neither of the team has made an impact. It has been a phase where Punjab FC has looked the better side, committing more numbers in front. Nsungusi Effiong has been able to challenge the defenders a few times but that's about it. Last quarter of the match in progress.

Finally the deadlock breaks and it is the home side who open the scoring. Sanan gets in behind the defence from the left side and puts in a teasing cross. Arshdeep Singh palms the ball away and it drops to Vincy Barreto who taps the ball in. After a scrappy game so far, finally a goal comes and Jamshedpur FC will be elated.

A rather underwhelming game comes to an end with hosts Jamshedpur FC scalping the points. Both sides created little to nothing in the entire game but deep in the second half, Mohammed Sanan cross followed by an error from Arshdeep Singh decided the game. Vincy Barreto bounced the ball into the goal and it was the only goal score in a rather cagey affair. Jamshedpur FC now have two wins in two games before facing East Bengal. Meanwhile, Punjab FC start their campaign with a narrow loss.
