the leader further added that the “silence” by INDIA bloc leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav and others over Udhayanidhi Stalin’s remark was “shocking”.

“This shameful silence by Rahul Gandhi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and other leaders like Nitish Kumar, and Tejashwi Yadav, is not only baffling, but shocking, to say the least. Rahul Gandhi, please speak up on this issue”, said Ravi Shankar Prasad, as per media reports.

“Why Rahul Gandhi is silent on this issue? This whole bloc (INDIA alliance) can become anti-Hindu for votes,” Prasad said.

The spiralling controversy stemmed from Tamil Nadu minister Udayanidhi Stalin's bold remarks on 'Sanatan Dharma' at a meeting of the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers and Artists Association in Chennai on Saturday.

In his address, the DMK leader had drawn similarities between the Sanatan Dharma and widespread diseases like Covid-19, Dengue and Malaria and also added that, much like the diseases, the religion should also be eradicated.

In a second statement, Udayanidhi said he stood by his statement and said "like the spread of diseases like COVID-19, dengue, and malaria by mosquitoes, that Sanatan Dharma is responsible for many social evils". .
