For former CBI additional director U.N. Biswas—whose fodder-scam investigations, sent Laloo Prasad Yadav to jail—it was a bad week. The Calcutta Police, acting on a tip-off provided by the American Narcotic Control authorities, arrested five Chinese and Myanmarese men, tenants at Biswas’ Salt Lake residence, and seized 24 kg of ephedrine hydrochloride used to manufacture narcotics like amphetamine and metaphetamine. Biswas has accused Laloo, coal baron Ramesh Gandhi and ex-CBI director Joginder Singh of conspiring against him.
