The Indian Army is marking Army Day on Sunday, which is marked every year on January 15. This is the 75th Army Day. A parade was held at Govinda Swamy Parade Ground in Bengaluru. This is the first time that the Army Day parade was held outside Delhi. The Army Day is observed on the day General (later Field Marshal) KM Cariappa took over the command of the Indian Army from General Sir FRR Bucher and became the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of Independent India. Cariappa took over on January 15, 1949.
