The FIFA World Cup gave one of its biggest shocks of the tournament as Spain crashed out of the World Cup in the round of 16. Unsurprisingly, Spain started on a strong note and dominated the ball in the first half but Morocco had the better chances on the break. Achraf Hakimi, Noussair Mazraoui and Nayef Aguerd had chances to score in the first half. Sofiane Boufal played really well throughout the first half. In the second half, Spain were in much better control of the game and the tempo of their play with Morocco having just one shot in the second half. With 0-0 after 90 minutes, the game moved to extra time where Spain had a clear cut chance in the dying moments of the extra time but Pablo Sarabia hit the post. Spain missed all three of their penalties were saved by Yassine Bounou. Morocco scored three of the four penalties and went through the quarter finals of the world cup for the first time.
