Suryakumar Yadav’s unbeaten 57 ensured India chased the target in just 10 overs
India sealed a dominant eight-wicket win over New Zealand in the third T20I at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati on Sunday, powered by Jasprit Bumrah’s three‑wicket burst and blazing fifties from Abhishek Sharma and captain Suryakumar Yadav.
Opting to chase, India restricted New Zealand to a meagre total of 153/9. Suryakumar and Abhishek’s blistering innings sealed the chase in just 10 overs, which clinched a 3-0 series win for the Men in Blue.
Sent to bat first, New Zealand’s innings never got off the ground. Pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah was the standout, taking 3/17. He was supported by Ravi Bishnoi (2/18) and Hardik Pandya (2/23).
As wickets kept tumbling, Glenn Phillips (48) and Mark Chapman (32) offered the only resistance for the visitors.
Chasing 154, India lost Sanju Samson for a golden duck and Ishan Kishan after 28, but the setback hardly mattered. Abhishek Sharma unleashed a 68-run knock off just 20 balls, smashing seven fours and five sixes. This marked the second‑fastest fifty by an Indian in T20Is (14 balls).
Skipper Suryakumar Yadav added 57 off 26 deliveries, which included six fours and three sixes. Their unbeaten 102‑run stand carried India to 155/2 in only 10 overs.
