Charges: murder (IPC 302)

Regarded as western UP's biggest 'don', he entered politics in the early 1980s. At the end of the decade, he became an MLA from Bulandshahar and hitched his wagon to Mulayam Singh Yadav's star. As a reward, he was appointed state panchayat minister. The don-turned-politician rode high; he even made (and acted in) a film featuring well-known artistes from Bollywood. The good times lasted until the BJP came to power in the state.

Ducking arrest, he went underground and the courts ordered that his property be attached. He was arrested soon afterwards and jailed. As Mulayam Singh Yadav's fortunes waxed, so did those of the 'don' and he was soon released. But he fell out with his mentor last year and joined forces with Kanshi Ram.

His 'historysheet' runs into over 30 cases of murder, kidnapping and hooliganism, several of which are still pending.
