In ’03 he launched WSG Films with wife Bhavna as a partner. The aim: to produce socially relevant cinema. He went to several film festivals to study the market and realised there was a demand for such films. More importantly, India had the cost advantage. WSG launched its first film, Dharm, last year. It got a personal audience from the prime minister and the finance minister and was even noticed abroad. Sheetal has two more projects under his belt—Good Sharma, which will be released in May ’08, and another that’s is in the production stage. On October 2 this year, he will launch a social initiative, Jaago India, a foundation in association with large corporate firms like Tata Tea, to produce good, relevant short films to be available for viewers on the Internet.
