MOHINDER Amarnath, the star of India's triumph in England in '83, was well-known for his superstition of keeping a red hanky in his trouser pocket when batting. It was supposed to bring him success. You never saw Mohinder with a moustache. However, he did sport a handsome moustache throughout the '83 showpiece event. But it was far from being a good luck charm, the fact was he couldn't shave because of a rash around his mouth. Anyway, the moustache proved very lucky for him and his team. Not only did he win the Man of the Match awards in the semi-final and final; his performances went a long way towards India winning the most prestigious trophy in cricket.
Will Tendulkar, Jadeja and Dravid take a leaf out of Mohinder's book? Who knows, it may enable Azhar to repeat what Kapil's Devils did in '83!
