Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Wednesday said the writings of saint-poets like Dnyaneshwar should be translated into all languages.

He was speaking at the felicitation of Dr Madhusudan Penna, vice-chancellor of Kavi Kulguru Kalidas Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya for translating Dnyaneshwari of saint Dnyaneshwar in Sanskrit.

Dnyaneshwari, a 13th century commentary on the Bhagavad Gita, is among the first major works in Marathi.

"The thoughts of our saints should be translated into all languages as they are useful for the unity of the country because their message is same," the RSS chief said.

When such literature is translated into Sanskrit, it becomes accessible to many as there are Sanskrit students in every state, Bhagwat added.
