Pakistan is orchestrating a smear campaign against India’s G20 event in Kashmir, Indian Intelligence agencies have found.

The intelligence reports suggest Pakistan is running an anti-India campaign on social media against its G20 event, while its foreign office has written to all its missions abroad to create an environment against the event, as per India Today report.

G20 event began in Kashmir on Monday at the Sher-e-Kashmir Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar. The event will conclude on May 24 in Kashmir.

The elaborate security arrangements have been made for the event with additional deployments of security personnel made to ensure that no untoward incident takes place during the event.

Pakistan’s close allies China and Turkey have boycotted the G20 event in Kashmir. Saudi Arabia has sent its representative to the event which is seen as a snub to Pakistan.

“Indian intelligence agencies say that using image analytics and artificial intelligence, they have compiled more than 100 profiles and mobile numbers of anti-India protesters, who are posting details related to protests and boycott of the G20 meeting in Srinagar, using fake identities,” the report said.

It added: “The intelligence agencies found that people are protesting against the G20 meeting and sharing the details on social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and WhatsApp. They are using hashtags such as #bharat_jammu_kashmir_chordo and #boycottg20, STOPG20INKASHMIR, INDIAN_PROPAGANDA_OF_PEACE_IN_IIOJK.”

“Indian intelligence sleuths claim many users were found to have created hashtags to protest against the Indian government. While several Twitter campaigns have already been organised in a phased manner, the next one is planned for May 21 by the Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK and Europe for a widespread anti-India campaign.

“They are trying to project that the sentiment is highly negative because people are protesting against G20 meeting and sharing the details on social media platforms. They are using hashtags like #bharat_jammu_kashmir_chordo and #boycottg20 as part of their large-scale campaign,” the report quoted an officer as having said.

“Posters have appeared in Srinagar urging the G20 countries to boycott the meeting. These include posters by pro-freedom organizations such as Wariseen-e-Shuda,” it said.

It also mentioned: “A letter from Engineer Afzal Ziai, president of the Kashmir Freedom Movement, to UN secretary general Ant³nio Guterres demanded that the United Nations take steps to prevent India from holding the G20 summit in the ‘disputed’ region of Jammu and Kashmir. It was also noticed that Mushaal Hussein Mullick, chairperson of the Peace and Culture Organisation, has urged G20 countries to boycott the Srinagar meeting. Mushaal Mullick, the wife of Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik, said it was high time the world powers and UN bodies showed solidarity towards Kashmiris.”
