In an industry where margins are thin and competition is fierce, VEV Travels Private Limited has carved out a different path. The Gurgaon-based travel services company crossed 1 million annual bookings this year while posting ₹15 crore in revenue with a 32% year-over-year growth rate—metrics that stand out in India's crowded travel BPO landscape.

What's more notable than the numbers is the strategy behind them. Founded in 2022 by CEO Tarun Yadav and Director Renuka Yadav, VEV Travels built its business not by competing on price, but by securing partnerships with global brands travelers already trust: Hilton Group for hotels, Hertz and Avis for car rentals, Expedia Group for comprehensive travel solutions.

"We decided early that we weren't going to be the cheapest option," Tarun explains from the company's operations center, where 200 employees field inquiries around the clock. "Instead, we'd be the most reliable. That meant partnering with brands customers recognize and backing those partnerships with serious service infrastructure."

The model required patience. Convincing established global brands to work with a newly launched Indian company meant proving operational capability before seeing revenue. VEV invested months building systems, training staff, and demonstrating it could handle volume while maintaining quality standards that brands like Hilton demand from partners.

But once those partnerships were established, they created a foundation for rapid scaling. VEV now works with major hotel chains (Hilton Group, IHG, Hyatt, Sheraton), car rental companies (Budget, Avis, Hertz, Alamo), OTA platforms (Trip.com, Hotel Beds, Rate Hawk), and cruise operators. The breadth allows VEV to handle complete travel packages rather than single-service bookings—a competitive advantage that's driving growth.

The company's 200-person team operates differently than traditional call centers. Staff undergo extensive training on destinations, booking systems, and customer service protocols. The investment shows in metrics: VEV maintains service quality while processing over a million bookings annually, a scale that would typically require three times the headcount without technology leverage.

"Technology handles the mechanical work—availability checking, booking confirmations, payment processing," notes Renuka Yadav, who oversees operations and partner relationships. "Our people handle everything else: trip planning assistance, itinerary changes, problem-solving when things go wrong. That's where we create value that pure technology platforms can't match."

VEV Travels recently completed a dedicated 75-seat facility focused specifically on the Indo-US travel corridor, recognizing that this market segment has different service expectations and growth potential. The center operates 24/7 to accommodate time zone differences, with staff trained specifically on US destinations, booking patterns, and cultural service norms.

The US expansion reflects broader industry dynamics. Post-pandemic travel has rebounded strongly, but travelers increasingly value reliability and service over absolute lowest price. Companies that can deliver both—competitive rates through partnerships plus responsive human service—are capturing share from pure-play technology platforms that struggle with service consistency.

VEV's partnership model provides natural margin protection in a price-competitive market. By working with suppliers who handle their own brand marketing and customer acquisition, VEV focuses resources on operations rather than advertising. The company's customer acquisition cost runs significantly below industry averages for direct-to-consumer travel businesses.

The strategy appears to be working. VEV processed over 1 million bookings this year serving clients across India and the United States. The company is targeting 50% growth in 2025, which would push revenue toward ₹23 crore. Management believes the partnership model and operational infrastructure can support that expansion without proportional headcount increases, thanks to continued technology investment.

"We're not trying to reinvent travel," Tarun reflects. "We're just providing a better way to access it—reliable brands, personal service, operational infrastructure to deliver consistently. That model scales."

For India's travel industry, VEV Travels represents an interesting case study. Rather than competing in the budget segment where margins compress rapidly, the company positioned itself as a premium service provider leveraging global partnerships. Three years in, the approach is delivering growth that suggests there's substantial market opportunity for service-differentiated players willing to invest in operational capability.

The question now is whether VEV can maintain service quality while scaling to the next level. The management team is confident, pointing to systems built over three years that enable growth without losing the personal service that's driving their success. Time will tell, but the first million bookings suggest they're onto something.
