F1: Max Verstappen Takes Pole At British GP, His Fifth Straight As Team-Mate Sergio Perez Struggles

Verstappen continued his good run, grabbing his fifth consecutive pole, while Perez faced hardships, finishing 16th.

Max Verstappen did not let an unusual low-speed crash in the pit lane hamper his chances at winning pole on Saturday at the British GP. His team-mate Sergio Perez struggled, finishing in 16th place.

This was Verstappen's fifth straight pole position and in all those five races, Perez has struggled to qualify for top 10.

After coming in contact with the pit wall, Verstappen lots his broke his car's front wing during a red flag stoppage during the first part of qualifying. Red Bull technicians replaced the wing and ensured there was no further damage to the vehicle before Verstappen continued.

“I just understeered and it just didn't grip,” he told the team over the radio.

McLaren's Lando Norris was impressive, finishing second, followed by his team-mate Oscar Piastri in third. Norris was leading briefly in the standings only to lose his position in the final seconds, as Verstappen finished ahead by .241 seconds.

The Ferrari duo of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr finished fourth and fifth, respectively, ahead of the Mercedes duo of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton. Alex Albon, Fernando Alonso and Pierre Gasly wrapped up the top 10 by finishing eighth, ninth and tenth.
