Melbourne Renegades defeated Brisbane Heat by 14 runs in the second match of Big Bash League 2025-26 at the GMHBA Stadium in South Geelong, Victoria on Monday (December 15).
Renegades posted a towering total of 212 for 5, with Tim Seifert hitting 102 off 56 balls and Ollie Peake smashing 57 off 29. In response, Heat were restricted to 198 for eight.
The match saw the BBL debuts of Pakistan star cricketers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Rizwan, and both flopped. While Afridi had to be taken off the attack after bowling two beamers in an over, Rizwan could score just four runs from 10 balls before getting dismissed by left-arm spinner Patrick Dooley.
In the rain-affected season opener on Sunday, Perth Scorchers beat Sydney Sixers by five wickets. In that game, another star Pakistan player in the form of Babar Azam had disappointed on league debut.
