Bangladesh created history by clinching their first-ever T20I series win against Pakistan, sealing the milestone with a tense eight-run victory in the second match of the 2025 series.
The match began with Pakistan winning the toss and choosing to bowl first, hoping to make early inroads on a pitch offering just enough grip. Bangladesh’s innings got off to a cautious start, with regular wickets keeping them in check.
But Jaker Ali stood tall amidst the wobble, anchoring the innings with a composed fifty. Mahedi Hasan chipped in with a handy knock down the order, and together they dragged the hosts to a competitive 133. It wasn’t a total to feel safe about, but it gave Bangladesh something to bowl at, and their bowlers made it count.
The pace trio of Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, and Tanzim Hasan Sakib hit their lengths early, dismantling Pakistan’s top order and reducing their top six to single-digit scores.
Faheem Ashraf sparked hope for the visitors with a fiery counterattack, registering his maiden T20I fifty and stitching together a 41-run stand with Abbas Afridi. But with the game in the balance, Bangladesh held their nerve.
The bowlers tightened the screws in the death overs to close out an eight-run win, sealing the match, and the series, in front of a roaring Dhaka crowd.
