Neb Sarai, Saket, Delhi
Forget those artery-choking staples of the typical home-delivery menu. Follow the example of weight-watchers, vegans, and those whose palates crave the exotic—they’re displaying an insatiable appetite for the new samurai diet, elegantly packaged, and brought to your doorstep at a reasonable price. Sushiya, which pioneered the trend in Delhi, scores high on variety—sushi with salmon, tuna, avocado toppings or mayonnaise fillings; skewers of yakitori chicken, donburis, bento boxes, and even inventive fusions like fish tempura in Goan curry.
The sushi party pack, with its assortment of maki and nigiris (ranging from Rs 999 to Rs 1,300 for 40 pieces), has come to the rescue of many a hassled host faced with a horde of unexpected guests. So has the fusion platter with New York or California rolls (Rs 350). Sushi connoisseurs might find the Trivandrum tuna is several cuts below the Tsukiji one, the rice isn’t quite authentic and the nori could be crisper and fresher, but for the price, who’s complaining? This Indo-Japanese fare rocks! Our favourite from Sushiya’s menu is the chicken teriyaki donburi. The tangy chicken, rice and sauce combo makes for an irresistible and wholesome meal. So sharpen your chopsticks. Itadakimasu!
