- Guru Nanak was born in 1469 in Rai Bhai Di Talwandi, renamed Nankana
- A gurudwara exists at the janam asthan of Guru Nanak. His parents, Baba Kalo and Mata Tripta, lived here.
- The gurudwara was built before the end of the 16th century
- On Feb 21, 1921, after a battle between Sikhs and the gurudwara’s Hindu custodian, Mahant Narain Das, the Sikhs took charge of the gurudwara’s management.
- There are six more gurudwaras in the complex—Gurudwara Bal Lila, Patti Sahib, Kiara Sahib, Mal Ji Sahib, Tambu Sahib and Chhevin Patshahi
