The severe drought in Kerala is taking its toll even on the wildlife in the state. With traditional water holes drying up, 10 elephants have died this year. The forests in Wayanad and Neyyar have seen six and three elephant deaths respectively. One death has even been reported from the Periyar sanctuary. In addition, a dozen bisons have also died.
