Umar Khalid's 'Prison Diary' In Outlook Features In Book On Persecuted Writers

The book ‘For In Your Tongue, I Cannot Fit: Encounters With Prison’ features the prison diary from student activist Umar Khalid published in Outlook's ‘My Dear Apocalypse’ issue in 2022. The book, edited by Shilpa Gupta and Salil Tripathi and published by Context, features poems from an art installation by Gupta dedicated to 100 poets who have been incarcerated. It also features articles from writers who have been incarcerated or persecuted. About Khalid's diary, Outlook Editor Chinki Sinha noted, "On 24 December, we received the piece on my WhatsApp. For me, it was the only piece that I had badly wanted. The lines stuck.
