It's a cracking start from Blessing Muzarabani, who delivers a wicket maiden for the second over of the Oman innings. Jatinder Singh is beaten for pace and cleaned up, and new batter Hammad Mirza faces the music post that.

Zimbabwe leave Oman reeling at 24 for 4 after the powerplay, with Blessing Muzarabani claiming three wickets and Richard Ngarava one. The torrid start raises thoughts of Oman folding for one of the lowest totals in T20 World Cup history. For the record, 39 all out is the all-time low, scored by Uganda against West Indies in 2024 and also by Netherlands against Sri Lanka in 2014.

Having lost their fifth wicket for 27 runs in the seventh over, Oman were in the danger of getting shot out under 50. But Vinayak Shukla (28 not out) and Sufyan Mehmood (22 not out off 33) resurrect the innings somewhat. Zimbabwe still well and truly in command though, make no mistake about it.

It takes a superb catch from Brendan Taylor off Richard Ngarava's bowling to break the 42-run Vinayak Shukla-Sufyan Mehmood stand. Shukla falls, and Jiten Ramanandi, follow soon after to leave Oman eight down and in dire straits still.

Another brilliant catch, this time from Brian Bennett, brings the Oman innings to a dismal end. Nadeem Khan departs for an 18-ball 20 as Zimbabwe bundle them out for 103 runs in 19.5 overs. Richard Ngarava, Blessing Muzarabani and Brad Evans all finish with three-fers.

Brian Bennett, fresh from his stunning catch, and Tadiwanashe Marumani get Zimbabwe's pursuit of a modest 104-run target underway. Shah Faisal has the brand new ball in hand for Oman, who appear to be facing a big defeat if not for a flurry of early wickets.

Brian Bennett and Tadiwanashe Marumani gave Zimbabwe a rapid start but Sufyan Mehmood's double strike in the space of three balls mean Oman are still in the hunt, even though just about. Bennett is still at the crease and the ever-experienced Brendan Taylor alongside him. Just 61 more runs needed in 14 overs.

Bennett and Taylor have not only built a steady stand, they have brought Zimbabwe to the doorstep of victory. They need 15 more runs from 48 deliveries.

Brendan Taylor, who was having difficulty while running between the wickets, retires hurt at 31 to avoid aggravating injury. Bennett, meanwhile, finishes the job alongside Sikandar Raza as Zimbabwe chase down the 104-run target in 13.3 overs to start their campaign on an emphatic note.
