'T' Will Be The Trump Card

Tamil Nadu has become the first state to cross the gender barrier. Its civil supplies department has issued ration cards that recognise transsexuals. These cards will have their sex columns marked as ‘T’ instead of male or female. It will allow an estimated 40,000 transsexuals in the state to identify themselves as the third gender. This will also allow them to benefit from the state welfare schemes without being forced to present themselves either as males or females.
