The ‘magic box’ underpasses have become Bangalore’s latest success story. While normal underpasses take over a year to build and cost upwards of Rs 25 crore, the ‘magic box’ is completed in 30 days and costs a crore. It’s the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) that has come up with this technology—it has, though, appointed a patent attorney to claim the copyright. There has been a beeline of engineers from other states to study the new underpasses. The brain behind the magic box is BBMP comissioner S. Subramanya.
