Sing Me A River Karnataka’s in standstill mode nowadays with the bandhs and protests over Cauvery. That, however, has not prevented local news channels from making a song and dance of it. From film songs about Cauvery to interviews with actors/actresses, the river sentiment is overflowing. So when actress Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, wife of late Kannada superstar Vishnuvardhan, was unloading her two cents worth, there was his song from Jeevanadi—Kannada naadina jeevanadi Kaveri (Cauvery is the lifeline of Karnataka)—playing out before and after. So it went for actor and ex-MP Ambareesh (Kaveri hariva naadu/ The land where Cauvery flows) and sundry others who came on camera. No doubt about it, the river—and the channels—are in spate in Kannada nadu.
