Celebrating the 150th year of the 1857 rebellion has seen much bickering in India. A committee headed by PM Manmohan Singh still can’t agree on how best to conduct the year-long celebrations. But in England, tour agencies are all geared up for the event; there are ads in newspapers inviting people to travel through India in the company of historians. One such tour is a 14-day package which promises a journey through Cawnpore (Kanpur), Jhansi (Rani Lakshmibai has been compared to Joan of Arc), Delhi, Agra and Meerut.
