Concern About Raising Incidents of Factory Fires

Earlier this week, a deadly incident took place at the Sigachi Industries Ltd facility in Telangana's Pashamylaram. The incident took the lives of 40 people, leaving 33 injured. At the time of the incident staff of both the shifts were present in the factory, resulting into higher death tolls.

The investigators are examining lapses in safety protocols and operational failures as potential causes of the explosion.

Over the last five years, six deadly incidents of industrial tragedies have taken place. With rising incidents of fire breakouts, short circuits and explosions, questions arise whether safety protocols are implemented properly and regular inspections are conducted.

Setting up factories requires several approvals from the concerned authorities. Once operational, regular internal and external inspections are to be conducted. However, in the past, we have seen such procedures getting skipped or being done for the namesake in India.

As per experts, the 1984 Bhopal Gas Tragedy could have been avoided if safety protocols were in place, regular maintenance and inspections were conducted.
