"...As I told the CBI, I was quite surprised when Iread about the crimes and extortion committed by Romance Sharma. It just goes to show younever can tell about people from how they appear on surface. Of course I hardly knewRomance Sharma. I met him accidentally. It was at some minister's house. I forgetwhose. I was introduced by a friend. I forget who. I had just got married and had to spendmy honeymoon in Delhi. I was looking for a farmhouse.

I must say Sharma was most helpful. He offered me hisfarmhouse for my honeymoon. He was extremely charming. He was generous enough not tocharge me a paisa for a whole week's stay.

During that week in the farmhouse my wife, Sharma and Iwere inseparable. Sharma behaved like a brother. He insisted on eating with us andsleeping with us like a member of the family.

He was so affectionate that he wanted to get photographedwith us. I recall he had several photographs taken with my wife as they sat on the bed. I don't know whether he still has those pictures. I never asked him afterwards becauseI hardly knew him.

A few months later I was at a party thrown by a cabinetminister when to my surprise in walked Sharma along with my wife and five of her lends.

"What a surprise, darling," I said."What are you doing here?"
"Didn't tell you? I am working for Mr Sharma. My friends and I help him with hispublic relations!"
"Oh, so that's why you so often don't come home till 4 am! I often used towonder why. Now that I know I can stop worrying."
I must say Sharma was a very decent employer and my wife's income was of great help.My wife of course hardly knew Sharma. She was so busy with her work that she almost nevermet him.

When I read about Romance Sharma in the papers I wasnaturally shocked. My faith in humanity was shattered. My wife left his service and got ajob in Dubai. She is now working for some Mr Shakeel.

I turned to spiritualism. I met a most fascinating saint ina friend's house. He has deeply influenced me. I don't know if you have everheard of him. A saint called Chandraswami..."
